Bnsf 6208 drags a coal load west into Old Monroe Mo,
Toward the end of the day on July 3, 2020, a northbound BNSF coal empty marches up Logan Hill north of Bill, Wyoming, on the Orin Line on Powder River Basin.
A stack train grinds its way eastward out of the Red River Valley and under the wooden bridge at Muskoda. The bridge was destroyed eight days later when sparks from a passing train set it on fire.

Another portrait of branch line railroading in the 21st century: two modern BNSF units power a train up the BNSF's Zap Branch (that's steam from the Basin Power Plant in the distance).
BNSF 6208 has just left the power plant at Basin, and is heading west on the Zap branch line.
BNSF 6208 leads a grain train parked on the edge of Wayzata with a visitor from my old stomping grounds in the consist, a NS OLS 25th Anniversary unit.
Westbound thru Brighton Park... "back in the day" as it were...
